Other Lighting Tech Kits
There are all types of Lighting Tech Kits – bags – pelican – backpacks – that other people use to bring the essential items they need to do their job. I find it interesting to see what different people bring with them. Some put a lot of thought and other just throw stuff in a bag. No matter the type of kit you have, you can always learn something new from a different person.
Most companies will have the tools you need in a workbox. You can also ask for different thing to be placed in a workbox. I like bringing my own because then I know what is available to me. I don’t like wasting time looking for something that somebody misplaced. My large show bag.
Tools and equipment can be specific for your field. But snacks, small tools and organizers can be universal. You can get ideas from watching a video about an audio tech kit. See what they bring and why. My Tech Kit has the items I need to be on a show for a long time. I don’t like being tired so I bring a lot of caffeine and different types with me.
Add items to your kit that make your job/life easier.
Backpack or Pelican
I personally like the backpack. Each time I thought about getting a pelican – I remembered the times where audio people would be dragging their pelican thru gravel or grass with those small wheels. The pelican is better for flights or long trip in the back of a truck. But the day to day – I would just rather carry in a backpack. What do you think? Comment Below.

Pelican – Backpack – Rolling Suitcase – Cooler Bag?
Is there a bag that has a cooler compartment? Looking on amazon I found a small black cooler. It has room for about 6 bottles of water. The top has space for snacks. I bought it and used it for about 6 months. If it had one more compartment for tools and electronics. This would become my everyday bag. Check It Out Here.
Good Idea
Lock it up – I saw a different post about tech kits. That person included a bike lock with their tech kit. I am going to find a good solution to this and incorporate it in to my tech kit. Story – We were working in Dallas – the event just got done. The stagehands just started to check in. Event attendees were still in the room. One of the stagehands bag was stolen. It was a busy and someone just walked off with their backpack.
